Well Dad, this birthday has been celebrated on both coasts over the span of two months and I've set up this web site to be a virtual ongoing party. Below you will find notes from some far flung friends and relatives and some who are nearby as well. This is absolute proof that the internet isn't only for stock quotes!

Happy Birthday from me, your number one daughter.

Ciao!

Lisa

We've known Murray at least a hundred years or so - since we went to his wedding with Greta, in fact even before then. He's always been good-natured and a gentleman, except, perhaps, when it came to his business where he was (not is now), a hard driving entrepreneur. His early interests were kite flying, which we remember since he sometimes brought a kite along when he visited; and we would go to Rockland Lake Park to fly it. His more recent (and more sedentary) interests are stocks and computers. The former of which he is most successful, but also improving in the latter (we think). Another big interest is bedspreads and drapes. Murray knows every store in every mall in Rockland County dealing with these items. Recently, he has taken to walking along the beach at Reiss Park with Sheldon discussing world politics in a manner similar to his late father-in-law.

During these pursuits with Sheldon, Bernita and Greta would escape to either do some serious shopping or other things such as more serious discussions about the children or life, in general. Here's to our sharing these interests and our annual outings to Reiss Park for many, many years.

Happy Birthday, Good Health, and Happiness for many years to come.

Bernita and Sheldon

Dear Murray,
Have a wonderful 70th. Do you remember the seltzer bottle fight we had back at Crown Street when I was a pre-teen and you were in your early twenties? We were laughing so hard we did not hit each other with much seltzer when Mom came into the kitchen and ordered us to stop.

Dave and I wish you a great day.

Love, Barbara

I asked my Dad to share some stories about your Dad. He told one story about how he and Bob used to hang out with a group of kids on a regular basis and one day Murray showed up and the other kids asked who he was and he said something to the effect that "I'm the new kid on the block!"

Seymour, by way of Matthew

Murray is one of those individuals who engenders the trust, respect, and love of all those around him. His open and gentle nature is expressed by his commitment to both family and friends. His support and encouragement of others are among his abiding qualities.. As a nephew I have felt his support, generosity and sincere interest in my activities on many occasions. Happy 70 Uncle Murray!

Matt

Dear Murray,

You fooled us all. You grew younger and younger right in front of our eyes and we never noticed that in fact you were growing older, for heavens sake. How can you do it to us?! We ARE family, after all, aren't we?

Before we forget why we're here - Happy Birthday, Murray.

And here are some words of wisdom to make you laugh and to keep you going for ever (footnotes are not given for the original authors of these pearls so that we can take all the credit):

  • Refuse to be ill.
  • If your stomach disputes you, lie down and pacify it with cool thoughts.
  • Cherish all your happy moments: they make a fine cushion for old age.
  • Don't worry.
  • Don't complain about growing old - many people don't have that privilege.
  • If people can't accept your imperfections, that's their fault.
  • Buy good stock and hold it till it goes up, then sell it. If it don't go up, don't buy it.

And so, on this very special day, we wish you, from the bottom of our hearts, good health and much happiness.

Love,

Yael, Michael, Elai, Nikki, and Eddan

P.S. Take good care of my cousin.

Wishing you the very best birthday and many more to come.

We have shared so many important occasions and holidays with you. Our wish is to continue to celebrate with you for many years.

Love,

Nicole & Elai

Keep those notes coming!
